NBAA President Speaks to GWBAA

On February 25, 2005, Ed Bolen, President of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) was the featured speaker at the first general meeting of the GWBAA, which attracted an audience of more than 60 aviation professionals.

Mr. Bolen emphasized that organizations such as NBAA and GWBAA can be most effective when they coordinate their efforts, noting that regional groups can assist NBAA through their unique knowledge of local issues, while NBAA can mobilize national resources to assist regional groups.  Mr. Bolen further stated that organizations also can enhance their effectiveness through grassroots efforts by their members to influence legislators and regulators.

Mr. Bolen noted that the NBAA's general goals for enhancing business aviation over the next five years include professional development programs; advocacy for the industry to the public and the government; trade shows and community forums; and operational assistance to members.

Mr. Bolen also took questions from the audience on issues including how the NBAA and the FAA are working together to monitor safety in business aviation, and on re-opening business aviation access to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

GWBAA thanks Mr. Bolen for his thoughtful remarks, and expects to announce future events and speakers shortly.
