On September 18, GWBAA hosted its ninth annual golf tournament at the 1757 Golf Club.  The event benefited the Aero Club of Washington Foundation's educational programs; at the end of the event, Paige Kroner and Harry Houckes presented a check for $1500 to Bob Blouin.  GWBAA thanks looks forward to seeing everyone next year and thanks its sponsors:

On September 12th, GWBAA held its 8th Annual Golf Tournament.  The weather was a perfect warm fall day with a bright sun over the 1757 Golf Club.  70 golfers enjoyed a great day on the links in support of GWBAA and the Aero Club Foundation of Washington.  They also raised $1,500 for the Corporate Angel Network through mulligans.

This year brought a record number of sponsors, many joining GWBAA for the first time.  The 18th Hole host a new contest with the help of Winslow Life Raft, as we attempted to chip golf balls into a life raft in the water trap.  No one made it.  Maybe next year?  (No one survived "Survivor Ball" either as each foursome was to play with a "special ball" and return it to the club house.)

GWBAA would like to thank all our participants, sponsors, and volunteers that made the day possible.  The entire event takes a year to plan and prepare for.  The day together on the links is always the pay off.  We look forward to seeing you all next year.  If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let us know.

On September 21, 50+ golfers joined GWBAA at the 1757 Golf Club for our Seventh Annual Golf tournament.  The weather held off for a nice fall day on the links.  GWBAA and its supporters raised $1,000 for the Corporate Angel Network.  The tournament also benefited the Aero Club of Washington Foundation.  Oakley Brooks was on hand to accept the donation raised by the tournament on behalf of the Aero Club.   Oakley described how the Aero Club helps high school students in the greater Washington area to learn about possible careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.

The GWBAA golf tournament date for 2012 already has been set – Wednesday, September 12 at the 1757 Golf Club.  For more information – and to register – please visit  Book a sponsorship by October 31, 2011 and you will receive one free golfer slot.

For many more photos from the GWBAA golf tournament on and off the links, please visit  Many thanks to Astrid Naparstek, who served as our photographer.

Finally, GWBAA would like to thank all those who came out to support this year’s tournament, whether golfer, sponsor (including all 19 listed below), or both.  Special thanks also go out to everyone behind the scenes that helped make the day possible.

This year’s golf tournament had been delayed for the tropical depression that rolled up the east coast on September 30th.  It was worth the wait. On October 13th, 47 golfers came out to support GWBAA and enjoy a day on the links at the 1757 Golf Club.  Despite a slight drizzle in the middle, the weather held off for a cool day on the course.  The 1757 Golf Club opened this spring to 18 holes and was in fine shape despite the dry summer.  The course offered a new venue for GWBAA and a new set of challenges for the golfers.  Plans are in motion for next year’s event.  We hope to see everyone again.

GWBAA would like to thank all our sponsors who made the day possible:  Bombardier, Gulfstream, Embraer Executive Jets, Hawker Beechcraft, Landmark Aviation, Chantilly Air, Signature Flight Support, NBAA, AIRINC Direct, AVCARD/World Fuel Services, Rudy’s Inflight Catering, FlightWorks, and US Sedan.  A special thanks to all our volunteers who helped make this day happen.  GWBAA will contribute a portion of the funds generously raised to the Aero Club of Washington Fund.
